National Literacy & Numeracy Week (part 4)

An oldie but a goodie. . .
Run run run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the. . . .

Gingerbread man

Cut using a pancake mould (that's been in the cupboard for years, but it's similar to this one) so the edges aren't the neatest.
Did this as a 'zebra' sandwich (one side white, one side multigrain) too so he stands out a bit more.
Sultana eyes & buttons
Craisin mouth

Served in a Tupperware square round

  1. Too funny! I was going to make this exact sandwich last night because B has been doing runaway food at school and they decorated gingerbread men today. I didn't get to make it though because I had to go to bed and leave Daddy to make lunch. This morning, B asked why he had "old sandwiches" instead of fun shapes.

    1. Well you'll just have to school Daddy up in how to be creative! These are really so simple that (no offence) even a Daddy can do it :-).
Someone asked me how long it takes to prepare these fun lunches as they thought it would take an age - in reality, when you have an idea of what you want to do (and let's face it, once toddlers like something that's all they want for weeks on end), then they are surprisingly quick. This one is a simple press down with the cutter, flip over the centre section & add some sultanas. Maybe an extra minute on top of 'here's an uncut sandwich'. . . Maybe we can organise a race between Mummy's 'fun' sandwiches & Daddy's 'old' sandwiches. . . I'd be interested in the results :-)
